Editor / Motion Graphics Artist

The Editor / Motion Graphics Artist is responsible for bringing stories and messages to life across digital ministry content, reporting to the Executive Producer. This role primarily focuses on post-production, creating engaging edits and motion graphics across ministry stories, online teaching, worship sets, podcasts, social media, and other digital platforms. You will collaborate closely with producers, the creative director, videographers, and designers to turn captured footage and creative concepts into meaningful final videos. A full-time position, this position primarily works Monday-Friday, but select projects will require work during weekend services on a case-by-case basis. Although the position is regularly Monday-Friday, ministry happens in the evenings and during the weekends. All Mariners staff are expected to work during Christmas Eve and Easter services, as well as participate in Rooted once/year. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards act.
Responsibilities
- Editing and Post Production
- Edit video content from rough cut through final delivery across a variety of formats, including storytelling pieces, ministry videos, online sermons, podcasts, socials, and worship sets.
- Shape pacing, narrative flow, and emotional impact through thoughtful editing.
- Add sound design, color correction, music, and finishing touches that elevate the overall production quality.
- Prepare videos for multiple platforms, including social media, online services, and internal communications.
Motion Graphics and Animation
- Design and animate motion graphics that support storytelling and visual clarity.
- Create animated titles, lower thirds, sermon graphics, transitions, and visual elements for teaching content.
- Collaborate with designers and producers to develop motion systems that align with the Mariners brand.
- Support animated content for sermon visuals, ministry campaigns, and digital media.
Creative Collaboration
- Work closely with the creative director, producers, videographers, and designers throughout the post production process.
- Help translate creative concepts into compelling final videos through editing and
- motion design.
- Provide creative input on pacing, structure, and visual storytelling.
- Provide quality control for video projects and assist teammates when needed.
Studio and Production Support
- Support filming when needed across studio environments, events, or ministry storytelling shoots.
- Operate cameras, lighting, and basic production equipment when assigned to a shoot.
- Assist with studio recordings for online sermons, worship sets, or digital content as needed.
Media and Equipment Management
- Manage project files, media organization, and proper archiving of video projects.
- Help maintain a clean and organized media library.
- Support post production workflow, including ingesting footage and organizing assets.
- Work closely with the Media Assets Coordinator on organizing footage, photos, and edits.
Additional Production Support
- Assist with animation or motion graphics for sermon slides and bespoke visual elements.
- Support occasional weekend filming needs across Mariners campuses.
- Contribute creative solutions that improve workflow, storytelling, and production quality.
