Role overview
A Cybersecurity Analyst monitors network and system activity to detect suspicious behavior or potential cyberattacks.
The role focuses on preventing, detecting, and responding to security incidents to reduce risk and protect sensitive information.
Key responsibilities
Monitor computer networks, logs, and security tools (such as SIEM) for security alerts, anomalies, and intrusion attempts.
Investigate security incidents, contain and remediate threats, and document findings in incident reports.
Configure, maintain, and update security controls such as firewalls, antivirus, VPNs, and encryption solutions.
Risk and compliance
Perform vulnerability assessments and sometimes penetration testing to identify and help fix security weaknesses.
Support security policies, standards, and regulatory compliance by maintaining documentation and participating in audits.
Research emerging threats and recommend improvements to strengthen the organization’s overall security posture.
