Role overview

• A Cybersecurity Analyst monitors network and system activity to detect suspicious behavior or potential cyberattacks.​

• The role focuses on preventing, detecting, and responding to security incidents to reduce risk and protect sensitive information.​

Key responsibilities

• Monitor computer networks, logs, and security tools (such as SIEM) for security alerts, anomalies, and intrusion attempts.​

• Investigate security incidents, contain and remediate threats, and document findings in incident reports.​

• Configure, maintain, and update security controls such as firewalls, antivirus, VPNs, and encryption solutions.​

Risk and compliance

• Perform vulnerability assessments and sometimes penetration testing to identify and help fix security weaknesses.​

• Support security policies, standards, and regulatory compliance by maintaining documentation and participating in audits.​

• Research emerging threats and recommend improvements to strengthen the organization’s overall security posture.
