Healthy Lincoln County is recruiting a part‑time seasonal contractor to support its food systems work during the busy summer months. This position will help staff HLC’s booths at the Boothbay and Damariscotta Farmers Markets, assist customers using SNAP, WIC, Maine Senior FarmShare, and Maine Harvest Bucks, and support basic operations at our local Food Hub. It’s a great fit for someone seeking temporary summer work and who wants to help expand access to fresh, local food.
Healthy Lincoln County’s USDA‑funded Farmers Market Promotion Program strengthens local food access by supporting markets and increasing the use of food assistance benefits. Specific duties include:
Support the Food Systems Coordinator with increased summer workload for the Farmers Market Promotion Program and related food security efforts.
Staff the HLC booth at Boothbay and Damariscotta Farmers Markets, engage customers, and promote SNAP, WIC, Maine Harvest Bucks, and other incentives.
Provide on-site shopper education and outreach to help customers understand and use available benefits.
Offer basic technical assistance to vendors and shoppers using SNAP/EBT, WIC, and Maine Harvest Bucks.
Assist with Food Hub operations, including receiving, sorting, packing, and handling local farm products.
Communicate with farmers, vendors, shoppers, and staff to share updates, address needs, and strengthen partnerships.
Conduct farmer visits to support relationship building, outreach, and market access.
Gather feedback and observations from markets and the Food Hub to improve marketing, education, and program accessibility.
Perform other duties as needed to support HLC’s food systems and food security work.
