SUMMARY
The Finishing Supervisor is a visible leader on the production floor. This position responsible for leading and managing a team of unionized, hourly production Team Members within a heavy manufacturing machine shop and assembly environment. This position ensures the efficient execution of daily operations, meeting safety, quality, production, and delivery goals. The Supervisor provides direct oversight, coaching, and support to team members, fosters a culture of continuous improvement and accountability, and collaborates closely with maintenance, quality, engineering, supply chain, and planning departments to ensure seamless workflow and operational excellence. A strong focus on workforce scheduling, performance management, and adherence to standard operating procedures is essential for success in this role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES
- Supervise and direct unionized, hourly production Team Members
- Ensure compliance with daily production schedules and quality standards
- Enforce company safety policies and procedures; lead daily safety talks and audits
- Monitor and maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Develop and manage daily work schedules, task assignments, and staffing coverage
- Review and process Scrap daily
- Track and report key performance metrics (output, scrap, downtime, yield, etc.)
- Identify and assist in resolving production bottlenecks and equipment issues
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate Team Member performance
- Administer attendance tracking, corrective actions, and disciplinary procedures
- Collaborate with Quality to investigate and resolve product issues or defects
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate and timely records of production, downtime, and safety incidents
- Communicate effectively with Planning, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams
- Ensure all tools, materials, and resources are available and in working condition
- Support cross-training efforts to build a flexible, skilled workforce
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive shop floor culture
- Conduct regular shift meetings to relay production goals and updates
- Participate in audits and inspections as required by internal and external standards
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production and company objectives
