MTE - Paint Technician

The Paint Technician is responsible for the set-up and operation of the paint booth system. The employee must also monitor the process and quality of the product and make necessary corrections to the process to maintain a steady flow of quality products to the customer. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Initiate color changes per schedule.
- Inspect cylinder for visual defects. Inspect painted units for runs and unpainted areas.
- Operate nozzle type electrostatic painting equipment to spray positively charged paint particles onto negatively charged cylinders.
- Move switches and dials to start flow current and to activate conveyor and paint spraying equipment.
- Turn valves and observe gauges to set pressure and to control flow of paint to each spray station.
- Readjust pressure valves to control direction and pattern of spray and to correct flaws in coating.
- Clean paint from ceiling and walls of booth and from disks, nozzles, and hoses.
- Hand spray parts to cover unpainted areas.
- Work at different workstations as production needs require.
- Operation of lifting devices as needed.
- Look for opportunities to get involved in safety, environmental, process changes and overall improvement efforts.
- Follow all EHS guidelines and applicable procedures.
- Read, understand, and follow the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and EHS Work Instructions.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to their supervisor or any member of management.
- Shut down process if unsafe.
- Follow proper machine shutdown procedures.
