About the role
As the Card Operations Lead, you’ll own the end-to-end lifecycle of Moniepoint GB’s Visa card operations — from card logistics to authorization, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation. You will liaise with Visa, our processor (CLOWD9), banking partners, and internal teams to ensure operational excellence, scheme compliance, and financial accuracy.
You will design and continuously improve card operations processes, manage exceptions, handle disputes and chargebacks, and ensure our reconciliation and settlement pipelines are efficient and controlled.
Key responsibilities
1. Scheme Settlement & Reconciliation
- Manage daily Visa settlement and reconciliation between network files, processor reports, and Moniepoint GB’s core ledger.
- Maintain and reconcile Visa Settlement accounts across currencies.
- Coordinate with Finance to ensure all postings and funding obligations are accurate and timely.
2. Transaction Lifecycle Operations
- Oversee processing of authorizations, completions, clearings, refunds, and reversals, ensuring timely and accurate ledger updates.
- Work with Engineering and QA teams to validate automation of transaction postings and exception handling.
3. Disputes & Chargebacks
- Lead the chargeback and dispute process, ensuring compliance with Visa rules and internal SLA timelines.
- Analyze dispute root causes and recommend process or system improvements to minimize losses.
4. Processor & Scheme Relationship Management
- Serve as the day-to-day operational contact for CLOWD9, Visa, and other scheme partners.
- Monitor scheme alerts, bulletins, and operational changes; implement required updates promptly.
5. Operational Controls & Risk Management
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), controls, and dashboards to monitor card operations KPIs.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks related to card processing, settlements, and customer balances.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring complete traceability from network to ledger.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product, Finance, Compliance, and Engineering teams to improve cardholder experience, reporting accuracy, and operational scalability.
- Contribute to card product enhancements by providing operational insights and feedback.
Required experience & qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in card issuing operations (Visa or Mastercard), ideally in a fintech, neobank, or payment processor.
