Posted January 12, 2026
Full-time Mid-Senior Level

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Product Owner (TPO) to join our dynamic technology organisation and play a key role in the continued evolution of MTC (MUFG Trade Connect). MTC supports critical trade execution and trade lifecycle workflows, requiring strong delivery discipline, high operational readiness, and close collaboration across technology and business stakeholders.

This role will span 2 squads - MTC Core and MTC Appian squads - ensuring aligned prioritisation, consistent execution, and predictable delivery across the programme. As a Technical Product Owner, you will bridge technical and business needs, own both the business and technical backlogs, and be accountable for delivering high-quality outcomes through UAT and Production releases.

Reporting line: This role reports into the IT Lead for the trade processing domain.

You Will:

  • Own delivery across two squads (MTC Core & MTC Appian): drive predictable execution from discovery through UAT and Production, ensuring commitments are met and outcomes are realised.
  • Backlog ownership (business + technical): create, maintain and prioritise a transparent backlog covering features, enablers, tech debt and operational readiness; keep work “ready” via regular refinement.
  • Translate needs into buildable scope: shape epics/stories with clear acceptance criteria; validate feasibility against architecture/platform constraints; surface trade-offs early.
  • Dependency & risk management: identify cross-team/system dependencies, plan sequencing, remove blockers, and escalate decisions needed to maintain flow.
  • Quality, compliance & release governance: ensure testing and non-functional requirements are embedded; lead release readiness and change execution so deployments are safe and repeatable.
  • DevOps & continuous improvement: champion CI/CD, automation and engineering standards that improve reliability, cycle time and operability.
  • Observability & data-driven decisions: use monitoring and delivery/service metrics to steer prioritisation and continuous improvement across both squads.
  • Production support partnership: act as L3 for product incidents, coordinating with L2/Application Management and engineering to restore service and prevent recurrence.
  • Stakeholder alignment: serve as the technical voice with business and engineering stakeholders, providing clear updates on progress, risks, options and decisions.
