We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead end-to-end‑ payroll operations for the NRMA Group portfolio on a 12-month contract. Working hybrid across Sydney CBD, Sydney Olympic Park, and home, you’ll run a high‑integrity payroll function, elevate organisational compliance, and champion continuous improvement across processes and systems
What You’ll Do
The Payroll Manager is a pivotal role within our People & Culture team where you’ll collaborate closely with IR, Finance, and Technology across the NRMA Group portfolio, while fostering a high performing, accountable, and service focused team culture.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee and manage end-to-end payroll processing for all NRMA employees, ensuring accurate and timely payroll in accordance with industrial awards, enterprise agreements, contracts, and legislation.
- Maintain robust payroll controls, audit checks, and reconciliation processes, including payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG, STP reporting, and year-end activities.
- Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act, NES, ATO requirements, and relevant state legislation.
- Lead and mentor the Payroll Team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee payroll systems and work closely with Technology teams on enhancements and integrations, especially with Dayforce.
- Identify and implement initiatives to streamline processes, reduce errors, and improve user experience through automation and digital solutions.
- Partner across People & Culture, Industrial Relations, Finance, and Technology to continuously improve processes and resolve audit actions and provide expert advice to HR, Finance, and managers on payroll matters, managing payroll-related queries with professionalism.
What You'll Bring
- Extensive experience managing end-to-end payroll operations in a medium to large organisation.
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Fair Work frameworks, and enterprise agreements.
- Proficiency with payroll systems (such as SAP, Chris21, Dayforce, Preceda, or similar), and an understanding of HRIS and Finance system integrations.
- Advanced data accuracy, numeracy, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capability.
- High level of confidentiality, integrity, and judgement.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Diploma of Payroll Management, or equivalent experience. Additional HR, business, or finance qualifications are highly valued.
- Experience in large, multisite, or shift-based organisations and exposure to payroll transformation projects is desirable.
