1. Development and implementation of programs and services in information, media, digital, and AI literacy:
1) conducts training sessions, seminars, classes, introductory courses, and integrated modules (both in-person and online);
2) delivers training in research skills, including scholarly communication;
3) contributes to the thematic and calendar planning of training sessions;
4) develops lesson plans and other necessary instructional materials, specifying content for basic, intermediate, and advanced levels of training;
5) collaborates with publishers, vendors, and other stakeholders to organize educational events;
6) conducts orientation sessions and tours for users and visitors as needed;
7) develops, ensures accessibility, and keeps up to date reference guides, instructional materials, and modules for structured lessons and self-learning, using innovative methods and platforms (such as LibGuides, social media, Moodle, and others), as well as various content creation tools.
2. Collaboration between the Library and Schools/Departments:
1) coordinates with faculty members to plan and conduct instructional sessions focused on developing information literacy and research skills;
2) assesses the information needs of schools in relation to the provision of services and resources;
3) evaluates and provides recommendations for acquiring resources (in any format) that support, complement, and enhance academic support for students, faculty, and staff at NU.
4) assists faculty members in preparing course materials, reading lists for circulation or short-term loan, and other resources needed for teaching;
5) collaborates with Library divisions to collect and maintain up-to-date instructional materials (in various formats) in alignment with the needs of the School/department.
3. Development of the Library’s print and digital collections in line with the needs of the University community:
1) selects resources in various formats according to established criteria;
2) submits requests for the acquisition of resources.
4. Providing consultations and other reference services on searching, evaluating, and using information:
1) coordinates the provision of reference services in the Library;
2) provides consultations by appointment and on a walk-in basis, in accordance with the service schedule;
3) utilizes appropriate innovative methods and technologies to deliver reference services (both in-person and online);
4) conducts individual and group consultations on searching for, evaluating, and using information.
5. Promoting user satisfaction and effective engagement with Division services:
1) assesses and analyzes the programs and services offered by the Division;
2) participates in organizing educational and cultural-leisure events related to the Division’s objectives;
3) collaborates with student clubs and organizations to develop joint initiatives aimed at promoting library resources and services.
6. Promoting Library services and resources through the library website, social media, and other communication channels to increase user awareness and engagement:
1) assists, when necessary, with reviewing and updating the Library’s web resources, ensuring timely and accurate access to current information and services;
2) coordinates with staff responsible for the Library’s marketing and communications to promote the full range of services and resources available to assigned schools and departments.
7. Supporting knowledge sharing and upholding standards in reference, teaching, and subject-specific activities:
1) establishes and maintains professional relationships with peers in similar institutions and roles;
2) shares knowledge and best practices with Library colleagues and other academic libraries in Kazakhstan by providing mentoring and training opportunities;
3) participates in organizing knowledge exchange events (including the European Academic Libraries Conference and the Eurasian Academic Library Training).
4) explores opportunities to apply relevant innovative solutions, online tools, software packages, and other resources to enhance the efficiency and quality of services provided.
8. Supporting the organizational development of the University:
1) maintains knowledge in the areas of teaching practices, teaching strategies, technologies, and methods used to deliver innovative and high-quality instruction and information support;
2) builds strong working relationships and partnerships with relevant departments and offices within the Library and the University to support the strategic goals of both the Library and the University;
3) represents the Library in various internal and external initiatives and working groups as needed
