Freelance Assignment Desk Editor, NBC Boston & NECN

NBC Boston is seeking a Freelance Assignment Desk Editor. This is a part-time project/limited term position with an estimated duration of up to 8-12 months, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

• Enterprise story ideas for coverage and interview subjects
• Assign crews to news stories and provide support for complete coverage, including research, contact information, phone calls, video etc.
• Coordinate feeds and media sharing with affiliates
• Monitor all changing and developing news stories from news wires, social media, scanners, contacts, public relations, phone calls,  and viewer suggestions 
• Communicate with production staff and management on the status of coverage and stories
• Establish network of contacts and sources across the Boston DMA
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
