Reporting to: Group Financial Controller (based in Sweden)
As Neko expands into the US market, we are seeking our first finance hire in the region to take ownership of all accounting and transactional bookkeeping for our US entities. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who has previously joined a high growth scale-up during its early growth phase, and is comfortable building processes from the ground up, managing end-to-end reporting and fiscal / tax compliance responsibilities and leveraging technology to build high performing accounting teams. Initially you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial records including revenue recognition and capex reporting, managing accounts payables, and supporting tax reporting in collaboration with external service providers. You will also be responsible for building the right US accounting team capabilities in collaboration with the Group Financial Controller and CFO.
The Salary range for this role is USD190,000 - USD235,000

Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting for all US entities, including general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Own the accounts payable process: invoice coding, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements.
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card settlements.
- Support legal team with the registration of new legal entities
- Ensure compliance with local and federal tax regulations.
- Prepare and file tax reports in collaboration with external tax advisors.
- Complete month-end and year-end close processes, including intercompany transactions and reporting to the Swedish HQ.
- Lead the audit preparation process for US entities and respond to third-party financial information requests.
- Maintain documentation and internal controls aligned with Neko’s global standards.
- Contribute to the implementation of ERP systems (e.g., Business Central) and automation initiatives.
- Build and manage a high performing US accounting team.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a fast-paced, mid-sized business.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - beneficial but not essential.
- Proven experience as an early finance hire or sole contributor in a growing organisation.
- Track record in building high performing, engaged finance teams.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP/IFRS and tax reporting requirements.
- Strong understanding of internal control frameworks; experience with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance a plus
- Experience with ERP systems for mid-large sized enterprises (Microsoft Business Central preferred).
- Comfortable working independently and cross-functionally across time zones.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
