Job Overview

This role ensures NETGEAR becomes a credible and trusted networking partner in broadcast audio and small- to mid-scale video environments. The Broadcast SE provides the technical leadership required to validate solutions, design deployments, guide partners, and feed market requirements back into Product Line Management and Engineering. At the same time, this person maintains strong business awareness, proactively identifies growth opportunities, and supports Sales and Business Development in expanding NETGEAR’s broadcast presence.

Key Responsibilities

The Broadcast SE is responsible for developing and maintaining strong technical integrations with broadcast OEM partners such as Riedel, EVS, Clear-Com, Panasonic, Grass Valley, and others. This involves continuous testing, interoperability validation, participation in joint solution development, and representing NETGEAR in partner technical discussions.

The role includes designing, validating, and supporting real-world broadcast workflows, including AES67, Dante, Ravenna, NDI, ST2110, IPMX, and PTP-sensitive environments. The SE manages lab infrastructure, testbeds, and demonstration systems to ensure all solutions meet the expectations of broadcast engineers and production teams.

A critical responsibility is influencing and supporting commercial growth. The Broadcast SE works with Sales, Business Development, and Alliances to identify new opportunities, support major accounts, and proactively engage system integrators. The SE assists in developing proposals, participating in customer meetings, and ensuring NETGEAR is included in early design stages.

Another essential aspect is enablement. The Broadcast SE develops technical training for regional SE teams, creates internal and external documentation, and contributes to certification and partner enablement programs. This ensures field consistency and positions NETGEAR as a knowledgeable and reliable resource in the broadcast community.

The SE collaborates continuously with PLM and Engineering to escalate technical requirements, identify feature gaps, and provide detailed field feedback on switching features, firmware, multicast behavior, QoS, redundancy models, PTP accuracy, and integration needs with broadcast control systems. This collaboration supports roadmap alignment with real market needs as defined in the broadcast strategy.

Marketing support is also part of the role. The Broadcast SE participates in industry events such as NAB, IBC, and InfoComm; supports the creation of white papers, solution guides, and case studies; demonstrates solutions to press and analysts; and helps position NETGEAR as a knowledgeable contributor during the industry’s migration to IP.

Required Experience and Competencies

The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in networking with real-world broadcast experience. They must be fluent in broadcast audio and IP video protocols, including AES67, Dante, Ravenna, SMPTE ST2110, Multicast, IGMP, QoS, and PTP. Experience designing or supporting production facilities, intercom systems, OB trucks, post-production networks, or enterprise studios is expected.

They should have meaningful exposure to business development, partner engagement, or technical sales. This role requires someone comfortable working independently in the field, developing relationships, uncovering new opportunities, and driving technical conversations that lead to commercial outcomes.

Strong communication, presentation, and customer-facing abilities are essential. The Broadcast SE will regularly interface with engineers, executives, and partners and must be able to simplify complex architectural concepts while establishing technical credibility.

Experience collaborating with product and engineering teams is important. The candidate must be able to articulate market needs clearly and translate customer requirements into actionable product feedback.

The role requires someone comfortable operating across functions; acting as a bridge between Sales, PLM, Engineering, and Marketing; and contributing to cross-functional governance models such as the Broadcast Steering Council noted in the Broadcast Strategy Plan.

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of IP networking fundamentals including VLANs, Layer-2/Layer-3 switching, multicast routing, IGMP snooping and querier behavior, QoS models, redundancy mechanisms, and network security concepts.

• Hands-on experience with AES67, Dante, Ravenna, SMPTE ST2110, NDI, IPMX, PTP (including boundary and transparent clocks), and real-time media transport requirements.

• Practical knowledge of broadcast control and orchestration systems like NMOS, Evertz MAGNUM, Nevion VideoIPath, EVS Cerebrum, Riedel Director, or equivalent platforms.

• Ability to design and troubleshoot end-to-end broadcast audio and video topologies including intercom systems, OB trucks, edge production networks, post-production environments, and hybrid SDI/IP workflows.

• Familiarity with monitoring, measurement, and analysis tools used in broadcast environments such as waveform monitors, PTP analyzers, network packet analyzers, and performance telemetry systems.

• Understanding of switch firmware behavior, multicast scaling limits, buffer management, and timing-sensitive configurations required for professional broadcast deployments.

• Experience with automation, APIs, and scripting for network orchestration or testing, including REST, Python, or similar toolsets.

Preferred Background

Candidates with experience at Professional Audio or Broadcast Video manufacturers, system integrators, or major production facilities are ideal. Familiarity with OEM ecosystems such as Riedel, Clear-Com, EVS, Panasonic, and Grass Valley is highly valuable. Hands-on expertise with IP orchestration systems, automation, or monitoring platforms (e.g., TAG, Nevion, Evertz) is a strong plus.
