Our Kenya program, founded in 2006, operates under the local brand Tupande. Close to 500 staff in our Kakamega headquarters support 1,747 field staff and serve more than 1 million farmers. In Nairobi, around 50 staff support global functions like procurement, recruitment, government relations, and communications.

About the Role

One Acre Fund is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced FSMS Systems Supervisor with 2-3 Years of hands on systems implementation to join our Market Access team. We are looking for a rigorous, detail-oriented FSMS Systems Supervisor to bridge the gap between high-level food safety paperwork and the factory floor. You will support the Quality Assurance Specialist in ensuring our macadamia operations from raw nut reception to final vacuum packing strictly adhere to BRCGS, FSSC 22000, and other international standards.

Your mission is to ensure that food safety controls are not just documented, but practically understood and flawlessly executed by every operator.

Responsibilities

Systems Management & Compliance

  • Maintain and update the Food Safety Manual in line with BRCGS and FSSC 22000 requirements.
  • Support and guide the HACCP team, validating Critical Control Points (CCPs) such as drying temperatures (Salmonella control) and metal detection.
  • Manage VACCP (Food Fraud) and TACCP (Food Defense) assessments, particularly supply chain risks.
  • Oversee document control to ensure only approved SOPs are in use on the production floor.

Quality Assurance Oversight

  • Verify QA testing methods align with FSMS requirements.
  • Review out-of-spec reports and ensure corrective actions follow root-cause analysis standards.
  • Ensure laboratory testing meets ISO 17025 standards.
  • Support traceability systems, including bi-annual mass balance and mock recall exercises (trace within 4 hours).

Audits & Verification

  • Co-lead external certification and customer audits (BRC/FSSC).
  • Manage the internal audit program and audit schedule.
  • Own the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process to prevent recurrence of non-conformities.
  • Conduct GMP inspections and verify Prerequisite Programs (PRPs), including pest control, sanitation, and zoning standards.
  • Perform unannounced CCP verification checks to ensure full compliance.

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • Minimum academic Qualification: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in food science or food technology
  • Knowledge of quality standards: Must have ISO 22000 experience, HACCP, FSSC 20000, BRC and auditing of the FSMS
  • Attention to detail: Able to identify issues on time for their escalation and problem resolution
  • People Management: Experience in managing a team
  • Ability to work as part of a team: Play role of a team member to assist the team to accomplish common goal
  • Problem-solving: Identify solutions to problems encountered
  • Written and verbal communication: Able to communicate in word and written form of communication
  • Time management: Manage activities for your deliverables
