About the Role
The QA & Sanitation Supervisor is the operational guardian of the factory’s cleanliness and product standards. You are responsible for the "Total Quality" of the shift: ensuring the facility is chemically and physically clean (Sanitation) and that the macadamia kernels produced meet strict customer specifications (QA). You will manage the transition between cleaning and production, oversee the consumption of processing aids, and ensure your team of inspectors and cleaners perform their duties with precision.
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is the site authority for food safety and quality assurance. The role has independent authority to approve or reject raw materials, in-process products, and finished products based on defined specifications, food safety requirements, and customer standards.
Quality and food safety decisions made by this role shall take precedence over production, throughput, or commercial considerations where product safety, legality, or quality may be compromised.

Quality & Product Integrity
- Oversee raw material intake checks (quality, moisture, defects).
- Authorize product holds and release of compliant batches.
- Manage in-process quality control (cracking, sorting, drying) and grading of finished kernels.
- Enforce sensory testing to detect rancidity or off-flavors.
Sanitation & Hygiene Management
- Own and enforce the Master Sanitation Schedule (daily, weekly, monthly cleaning).
- Manage cleaning chemicals (food-grade use, correct dilution, safe storage).
- Enforce zoning controls between raw and packing areas to prevent cross-contamination.
- Oversee environmental monitoring (ATP swabs, pathogen testing).
- Approve pre-operational line clearance before production starts and verify proper shutdown and cleaning after shifts.
Materials & Cost Control
- Oversee quality checks for packaging and processing aids.
- Monitor usage of detergents, PPE, and consumables to prevent waste or stockouts.
Team Management
- Manage 10–30 QA and Sanitation contractors.
- Supervise inspectors and cleaners to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Provide training on hygiene, chemical safety, sampling, and quality standards.
- Ensure QA coverage on all production lines and supervise clean-ups.
