At Oceans, we help the best and brightest of Sri Lanka to take advantage of opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t be available to them, while supporting entrepreneurs around the world. Our community (we call them Divers) don’t do surface work—they go deep to solve complex challenges and make a real impact. And in doing so, they support bold ideas and expand their skills, broaden their expertise, and grow their careers, all without having to leave family and friends.

We’re hiring a Bookkeeper to partner with a growing diagnostic medical imaging provider based in Connecticut. Supporting multiple entities, including a joint venture with a hospital, a professional corporation, and a holding company, this role is central to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting smooth payroll and benefits operations.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll processing, and financial reporting while coordinating with external accountants, vendors, and benefit providers. If you’re highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced managing multi-entity bookkeeping in a professional or healthcare-related environment, this opportunity is designed for you.

Accountability

As a Bookkeeper, your success will be defined by your ability to manage financial transactions accurately, maintain compliance, and deliver timely, actionable financial reports. You’ll combine hands-on bookkeeping with operational coordination across multiple entities, ensuring that both internal stakeholders and external partners have clear, reliable financial information.

Core Bookkeeping & Financial Operations

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping across three entities.
  • Write and issue weekly checks; accurately record all transactions in QuickBooks.
  • Interface with external accountants for fund transfers, tax filings, and compliance guidance.
  • Execute inter-company transfers as instructed for retirement plan funding, profit sharing, or major expenses.

Payroll & Benefits Administration

  • Serve as first point of contact for employee benefits questions (retirement plan, enrollment, compliance).
  • Review and finalize payroll through Paychex/PayClock, applying shift differentials, overtime, and holiday pay.
  • Make adjustments prior to payroll approval and release.
  • Maintain compliance with benefit providers, fiduciary advisors, and retirement recordkeepers.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Generate and distribute weekly financial reports, including cash received and itemized weekly expenses.
  • Ensure accuracy and clarity in reporting for internal stakeholders.
  • Support broader finance operations as required, including forecasting and ad-hoc analysis.

Colleagues

You’ll collaborate closely with the finance team to ensure accurate bookkeeping, payroll, and benefits management across all entities.

At Oceans, you’ll also receive guidance and support from our Operations Manager, who will help you succeed in the role and ensure that you’re continuously growing and developing in your career.

Skills & Qualifications

At Oceans, we believe in T-shaped individuals—those who bring deep expertise in one area, paired with broad curiosity and interests. As a Bookkeeper, your vertical focus will be multi-entity bookkeeping and payroll management, while your horizontal strengths should include compliance, reporting, and stakeholder coordination.

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Experience: 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in a multi-entity or healthcare-related environment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel; familiarity with payroll systems like Paychex or PayClock.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Solid understanding of accounts payable, inter-company accounting, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
  • Organization & Accuracy: Attention to detail and precision in financial transactions.
  • Collaboration: Ability to coordinate effectively with external accountants, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Communication: Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus skill:

  • Experience supporting employee benefits administration.
  • Background in healthcare, medical imaging, or multi-entity accounting.
  • Knowledge of fiduciary compliance and retirement plan recordkeeping.
  • Experience contributing to broader finance reporting, forecasting, or analysis.

Diversity of experience is core to Oceans. You are expected to work inclusively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ensuring that both personal and collective dignity are supported.

During the interview process, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your skills in the following areas:

  • Bookkeeping Accuracy: How do you ensure correctness and consistency in multi-entity accounting?
  • Payroll & Benefits: How have you managed payroll processing and benefits administration efficiently?
  • Compliance: How do you maintain adherence to accounting and retirement plan regulations?
  • Reporting & Analysis: How do you generate and communicate actionable financial insights?
  • Problem Solving: Have you identified and resolved discrepancies in complex financial transactions?
