Main Responsibilities
Research and Analysis
- Support the quantitative and qualitative analysis of energy trends and policies at the regional and country level, including analysis and policy recommendations to help Southeast Asian countries in their efforts to scale up electrification, renewable energy deployment and develop secure, affordable and highly decarbonised power systems.
- Provide inputs into relevant reports and work with other members of various teams in the IEA active on electricity policy to develop policy recommendations for the successful transformation to a low-carbon power system and support further electrification of end uses.
- Lead analysis of technical, economic and institutional aspects of advancing electrification across all sectors and integrating large amounts of renewable energy while enhancing energy security.
Liaison and Outreach
- Collaborate with other divisions in the Agency, especially with Electricity Systems and Markets Division (ESM) and Renewable Energy Division (RED), providing analysis on policy development, system integration of variable renewable energy, electricity security, cross-border power trade and market design enable transitions to low-carbon energy systems.
- Establish working relations with stakeholders from policy makers, regulators, utilities and international organizations in Southeast Asia, including ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Centre for Energy, ADB and World Bank as well as development partners.
- Promote the work of the Agency externally including organising capacity building/training events and participation in workshops.
