Job Overview

About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. On average, this model enables any farmer to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This is all made possible by our team of 9,000+ full-time staff, drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. To learn more, please see our Why Work Here blog post.

About the Role

You will design and lead field-tested adoption and engagement approaches that help farmers clearly understand program value, build trust, and confidently choose to enroll. This is a field-facing role at the intersection of Field operations, behavior change, and communication, turning farmer insights into practical, scalable adoption solutions.

Responsibilities

Farmer-Centered Adoption Design & Execution

  • Design and lead farmer-centered adoption approaches that drive enrollment and trust.
  • Translate program offerings into simple, compelling value propositions grounded in farmers’ realities, constraints, and priorities.
  • Design and coordinate community engagement and mobilization approaches that improve turnout, understanding, and informed decision-making.
  • Develop practical farmer-facing messaging tools and ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
  • Spend time in the field observing farmer interactions, identifying breakdowns in understanding, trust, or motivation, and working with field team to adjust delivery, sequencing, and emphasis.
  • Continuously refine adoption approaches using farmer feedback, enrollment outcomes, and field observation.

Adoption Data Analysis & Learning

  • Review weekly adoption and enrollment data to identify bottlenecks and drop-off points.
  • Combine data with field insight to recommend practical improvements to adoption execution.
  • Produce clear, field-relevant adoption post-mortems that highlight what worked, what didn’t, and why, grounded in farmer realities.

Field Team Coaching

  • Coach Field Directors and Field Officers on how to communicate value, not just deliver information.
  • Strengthen Field Officers' confidence in answering farmer questions and building long-term trust.
  • Support Field Directors to plan, monitor, and troubleshoot weekly adoption activities.

Multi-Channel Farmer Communication

  • Shape how messaging shows up across community meetings, radio, SMS, and FO conversations.
  • Work closely with Communications to ensure mass media efforts reinforce and support field engagement
  • Help sequence and time messages to support farmer adoption and enrollment.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Social Behavior Change (SBC): Work closely with the SBC Senior Coordinator to apply behavior-informed insights to adoption and engagement execution, while keeping ownership of field rollout and delivery.
  • Government Relations: Partner with Government Relations to align local leader engagement with adoption and community buy-in efforts.
  • Communications: Collaborate on the testing and rollout of farmer communication approaches across radio, SMS, and community platforms.
