POSITION OVERVIEW
Are you a data-driven lifecycle marketer with a passion for customer engagement and the technical chops to strengthen and scale customer lifecycle marketing capabilities? We're looking for a Lifecycle Marketing Manager to join our powerhouse team and lead lifecycle strategy and execution across Oportun's product ecosystem and key member moments. You will define and execute programs across email, push, SMS, in-app, and emerging channels to drive activation, engagement, retention, product adoption, and long-term customer value.
You are responsible for both strategy and execution. This includes prioritizing lifecycle initiatives across products, ensuring campaigns run reliably, and continuously improving performance through testing, segmentation, personalization, and marketing technology enhancements. You will work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, and Marketing Technology to deliver timely, compliant, and effective communications. You will also manage dependencies, resolve blockers, and translate business needs into clear data, platform, and execution requirements.
This role will also help advance Oportun's CLM technology capabilities. You will identify and implement opportunities such as new channel expansion, custom event integrations, improved customer data flows, AI-assisted campaign workflows, and automation that makes the CLM program more scalable, personalized, and efficient.
Success in this role means improving key lifecycle metrics across products, building scalable systems, strengthening CLM platform capabilities, and ensuring lifecycle marketing is a reliable, tech-enabled growth lever for the business.
If you're a hands-on marketer with a passion for strategic thinking, lifecycle marketing execution, data-driven decision-making, marketing technology, and customer engagement, we'd love to hear from you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Own Lifecycle Strategy and Performance
• Manage and optimize the lifecycle roadmap across Oportun's product portfolio and key member journeys, including onboarding, activation, engagement, retention, product adoption, and cross-product growth opportunities.
• Own performance against key engagement and business metrics, providing insights and recommendations.
• Identify opportunities and prioritize initiatives based on impact, feasibility, member needs, and technical readiness.
• Balance product-specific goals with shared lifecycle experiences and scalable CLM capabilities that can support multiple products and channels.
Execute and Optimize Multi-Channel Programs
• Build, launch, and optimize campaigns across push, SMS, in-app, email, and emerging channels.
• Partner with Design and Content teams to develop channel-appropriate creative and messaging.
• Ensure real-time, dynamic personalization using customer data, behavioral triggers, product events, and lifecycle signals.
• Design and maintain scalable, automated workflows triggered by user behavior and lifecycle stage for onboarding, activation, feature adoption, servicing, engagement, and retention.
• Continuously improve targeting, timing, messaging, channel orchestration, and personalization through structured experimentation.
Advance CLM Technology and Capabilities
• Lead adoption and optimization of emerging CLM capabilities, including new messaging channels, custom event integrations, AI-assisted workflows, and enhanced personalization.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Marketing Technology to improve customer data flows, event tracking, campaign triggers, APIs, and platform scalability.
• Translate lifecycle marketing needs into clear technical requirements, event definitions, use cases, acceptance criteria, and implementation priorities.
• Evaluate new platform features, AI use cases, and automation opportunities that can improve customer engagement, operational speed, QA, and personalization quality.
• Identify and resolve gaps in data, tooling, integrations, or workflows that limit campaign execution or lifecycle program performance.
Drive Experimentation and Insights
• Own testing strategy, including A/B and holdout testing to measure incremental impact.
• Translate data into clear insights and actions that improve lifecycle performance across products and channels.
• Partner with Analytics to ensure measurement frameworks are accurate, actionable, and connected to lifecycle and product goals.
• Use learnings from campaigns, experiments, AI-assisted analysis, and member behavior to inform future strategies and platform improvements.
Manage Cross-Functional Execution
• Work closely with Product and Engineering to align on priorities, data availability, event requirements, channel readiness, and implementation timelines.
• Drive alignment across stakeholders and push for clarity when priorities, requirements, or technical dependencies are unclear or conflicting.
• Communicate tradeoffs, risks, blockers, and recommendations clearly to help teams make informed decisions and to ensure campaigns and new capabilities are launched responsibly and effectively.
Ensure Operational Excellence and Compliance
• Ensure campaigns are executed accurately and on time, with proper QA, monitoring, and issue resolution.
• Own deliverability, consent management, and compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
• Maintain high standards for data integrity, personalization quality, messaging accuracy, and customer experience.
• Ensure AI usage, new channels, and platform enhancements follow privacy, compliance, brand, and governance expectations.
