Project Support Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Project Support Engineer to join our team and support the delivery of capital works projects across our Australian sites. This role plays a key part in the successful installation, coordination, and governance of plant and equipment upgrades, and is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a hands‑on, fast‑paced project environment. A significant element of this role involves close collaboration with suppliers and equipment buying partners in China.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Supervising and coordinating the installation of plant and equipment on site.
- Managing contractors to ensure work is completed on schedule and to required standards.
- Leading all project‑related safety requirements, including inductions, permits, SWMS checks and compliance follow‑up.
- Managing minor projects end‑to‑end, including scope development, financial tracking and presenting Capital Expense Requests.
- Monitoring budgets and project expenditures, ensuring invoices are accurate and paid on time.
- Maintaining accurate project documentation, meeting minutes and project management tools.
- Liaising with our China‑based equipment buying agent and OEM suppliers.
Your skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Native‑level Mandarin language proficiency (spoken & written) — a non‑negotiable requirement.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related discipline).
- 1–2 years’ experience in a similar engineering or project support role.
- Strong organisational skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel
