About this opportunity
We are looking for a Thermoforming Leader to support our Operations Manager and play a key role in ensuring our manufacturing processes run efficiently and effectively. In this position, you will oversee day‑to‑day production activities to ensure products are delivered in full, on time, and to the required quality standards, in alignment with the manufacturing plan.
You will also work closely with the Production Planner, providing recommendations that support optimal use of materials and labour, while driving continuous improvement across the thermoforming area.
The role normally works the Afternoon Shift, but the person needs to be flexible to work other shifts if required.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Monitor workstation uptime and production efficiencies, completing accurate hourly data recording and daily system entries.
- Review completed manufacturing orders and job packs, identifying material, labour, and run‑rate variances and escalating major issues to the Thermoforming Manager.
- Plan and maintain correct labour levels for each shift, ensuring staffing supports the manufacturing plan and performance standards.
- Ensure all team members follow company policies, complete required training, and meet performance and compliance expectations.
- Maintain product quality by ensuring correct start‑up checks, availability of quality samples, and ongoing staff training to uphold standards.
- Work with raw materials staff to ensure components are available, monitor material usage against standards, and manage timely material returns.
- Champion hygiene, food safety, and safety standards by ensuring compliance with SOPs, participating in audits, and reporting hazards, concerns, or contamination risks.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring housekeeping and HACCP standards are consistently met.
- Lead, mentor, and support team members, contributing to problem‑solving, continuous improvement, and effective communication across shifts.
- Carry out additional tasks as required to support Operations and uphold production efficiency, safety, and quality targets.
Your skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- Proven leadership skills - Strong ability to supervise and direct team members effectively.
- 1+ years’ experience working in a production environment
- Experienced in troubleshooting and finding solutions to production issues.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage within a team environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including basic MS Office proficiency.
- Lead by example, fostering a collaborative and proactive team atmosphere.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and committed to quality and productivity.
- Willingness to work overtime and undertake additional duties as required.
