Position Title: Outreach Officer
Location: Kanchanaburi, Thailand
Reports to: IUCN ITHCP Project Manager
Collaborates with: Communication Officer
Position Summary
The Outreach Officer will lead and support education and awareness-raising initiatives targeting youth, schools, and local communities. The role includes planning and implementing outreach activities such as youth camps, school visits, and public events, developing educational materials, and promoting stakeholder understanding of conservation, sustainable agriculture, and livestock management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the project’s communication and outreach strategy, in coordination with the Project Manager and Communications Officer.
- Design and integrate public awareness and visibility activities into project work plans and ensure their timely delivery.
- Plan and organize educational and community engagement events, including youth camps, school programs, and stakeholder meetings.
- Deliver engaging presentations and awareness sessions to schools, local communities, and general audiences.
- Promote understanding of policies, laws, and best practices related to wildlife conservation, livestock management, sustainable forest management, and organic farming.
- Develop and produce communication materials such as brochures, manuals, posters, and digital content.
- Coordinate logistics for outreach events and maintain effective relationships with local stakeholders, including government agencies, CSOs, and community partners.
- Support the M&E (Safeguards) Officer in monitoring project activities, collecting data, and preparing evidence based outreach materials (e.g.fact sheets, stories, and flyers).
- Document outreach activities and provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager.
- Travel frequently and be willing to stay in remote project sites when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or direct supervisors.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Education, Communications, or a related field.
- At least three years of relevant experience in environmental education, community outreach, or communications.
- Experience in sustainable forest management or agriculture value chains is an advantage.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement educational and outreach materials.
- Proven capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Creative, energetic, and passionate about engaging youth and communities in conservation.
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in Thailand at the time of application.
