About the position
Disaster Risk Reduction Specialist will lead the implementation of activities aimed at strengthening climate adaptation and disaster preparedness. This role involves stakeholder coordination, facilitation of fieldwork, delivery of training and awareness sessions, reporting, and procurement support to ensure effective project execution.
Main responsibilities:
- Organize field level events for stakeholders, local authorities, and national partners and aligned stakeholders.
- Oversee data collection, validation and reporting.
- Design and lead workshops to develop capacity within local authorities and partner organizations.
- At the community level, implement public awareness and information dissemination campaigns.
- Support project team in the development of required reporting.
- Adhere to internal policies and procedures, such as procurement and safeguarding.
Requirements
Desired experience and qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Environmental or Climate Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in hazard risk assessment, climate modeling, and/or vulnerability assessment.
- Prior experience in leading and managing teams operating under short timelines.
- Previous experience in implementing donor-funded projects.
