The role
You will be joining our Infrastructure squad as a Junior Site Reliability Engineer to ensure that Plum’s systems are resilient, secure, scalable, observable and fully capable to support our growth. You will support our Engineering function to use our infrastructure in the most efficient way. You’ll proactively identify areas of improvements and propose initiatives to make the SRE function more streamlined and with reduced overhead.
Your key responsibilities 🎯
- Operate, secure and scale our infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis).
- Automate aspects of systems using infrastructure management tools of the trade (we use Terraform).
- Ensure our metrics give an accurate picture of how the system is performing (we use Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana).
- Optimize and oversee our CI/CD infrastructure (Github Actions, CircleCI, ArgocD, Argo Workflows), empowering engineering teams with seamless build, test, and deployment automations.
- Participate in incident response and troubleshoot issues, correcting and improving systems to prevent incidents, and grow at scale.
- Build, improve and maintain Developer Experience tooling.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering squads, Security, Compliance to set up and improve Standard Operating Procedures.
Who you are 👀
- Working experience of 1+ years as a Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, System Administrator or in a similar position.
- Interest in coding, scripting, cloud infrastructure & learning new technologies.
- Analytical, troubleshooting attitude.
- Passion for continuous improvement and challenging the status quo.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as GCP and AWS.
- Familiarity with CICD tools.
- Strong foundational knowledge of GNU/Linux.
- Good grasp of Git CLI.
- Understanding of modern system design.
- Basic networking knowledge.
- Experience in Python.
- Familiarity with Relational Databases (preferably PostgreSQL).
- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
Good to have:
- System design/administration background.
- Security awareness with secure-by-default mindset.
