Prep Cook

Role type: non-exempt

Essential Job Duties

· Assist with the preparation of ingredients for cooking, including chopping, slicing, dicing, and marinating, following recipes and portion guidelines.

· Follow established portion control procedures to minimize food waste.

· Organize and stock ingredients and supplies to ensure smooth workflow during meal service.

· Maintain a high degree of standards in cleanliness and sanitation in all the kitchen areas, including equipment, countertops, and storage areas, following food safety regulations.

· Follow proper food handling procedures to minimize waste and ensure food quality and freshness.

· Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels, rotating ingredients, labeling prep items, receiving supplies, and notifying the chef or manager of any shortages or discrepancies.

· Follow all safety procedures.

· Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate timing and workflow.

· Assist with opening and closing procedures.

· Assist with dishwashing duties as needed.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· Previous experience as a prep cook in a high-volume environment.

· Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.

· Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

· Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel and reach for long periods of time.

· Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 40 lbs.

· Must be able to safely operate kitchen equipment and tools.
