Locum Consultant Hepatologist

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and most progressive hepatology services in Southern England. Based at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, the successful candidate will become part of a dynamic and highly supportive Gastroenterology and Hepatology department comprising 16 consultants with expertise spanning hepatology, advanced endoscopy, IBD, clinical nutrition, ERCP/EUS and upper GI therapeutics. The consultant team is supported by a strong multidisciplinary workforce, including seven registrars, three endoscopy clinical fellows and a dedicated hepatology nursing team of Clinical Nurse Specialists, creating a collaborative environment focused on delivering outstanding patient care and service innovation. 

Portsmouth's hepatology service has grown significantly over the last decade and is now recognised as a regional leader in liver disease management. The department offers a comprehensive range of specialist services, including established liver transplant links with the Royal Free Hospital, a joint transplant satellite clinic, TIPSS provision, locoregional therapies for hepatocellular carcinoma, and nationally recognised services for alcohol-related liver disease, MASLD/MASH and hepatitis C. As a core member of the Wessex Hepatology Operational Delivery Network, the team is actively involved in delivering advanced therapies and driving service development.
