The Purpose:
As the Senior Engineering Manager in the Boarding Domain, you will own the end-to-end technical strategy, architecture, and execution for PPRO’s customer onboarding portfolio. Your role is to drive engineering excellence, ensuring that our systems are scalable, secure, and optimised for seamless customer onboarding.
You will collaborate closely with Product, Compliance, and Commercial teams to deliver an efficient, compliant, and automated onboarding experience for global customers. Balancing technical vision with hands-on leadership, you will mentor engineers, streamline development processes, and foster a culture of innovation and ownership.

What you will be doing:
- Define and Lead Engineering Strategy
- Set the technical direction for the Boarding Domain in alignment with the SLT, ensuring scalability, security, and performance in alignment with business objectives.
- Build a robust and future-proof architecture, leveraging modern cloud-native technologies.
- Drive technical innovation to improve automation, reduce onboarding time, and enhance compliance capabilities.
- Deliver Engineering Excellence

- Lead and Scale a High-Performing Team
- Manage and grow a strong team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Act as a mentor and coach, empowering engineers to take ownership and innovate.
- Create an environment where product, engineering, and compliance work together seamlessly to deliver business value
- Drive Operational Excellence
- Optimise engineering workflows to reduce friction, improve speed, and increase system reliability.
- Continuously improve Boarding API performance, ensuring seamless onboarding for large-scale global customers.
- Establish KPIs for uptime, latency, error rates, and automation coverage, using data to drive improvements.
- Ensure Security and Compliance
- Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to build secure, scalable, and compliant onboarding solutions.
- Implement automated risk controls, reducing the need for manual interventions.
- Stay ahead of regulatory changes, ensuring our onboarding platforms meet global compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with Key Stakeholders
- Work closely with Product, Commercial, and Customer teams to align engineering efforts with business needs.
- Engage with customers and partners to understand their challenges and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Advocate for a customer-first engineering approach, balancing technical feasibility with business impact.

You will need to have:

- Engineering Leadership & Execution
- Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams in a fast-paced, global environment.
- A hands-on approach when needed, with the ability to deep dive into technical challenges and guide solutions.
- Track record of delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance platforms in fintech, payments, or a regulated industry.
- Technical Excellence
- Deep experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and API-driven platforms.
- Deep understanding of scalable backend systems, event-driven architectures, and modern software engineering practices.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and security best practices.
- Experience in regulated environments would be a plus
- Business and Customer Focus
- Ability to bridge the gap between engineering and business needs, making technology decisions that drive impact.
- A data-driven approach, using insights to optimise engineering strategies and execution.
- Strong understanding of payments, fintech, and compliance challenges related to onboarding would be a bonus..
