The Maintenance Technician ensures the safe, efficient operation of production and support equipment by performing preventive maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and troubleshooting according to schedules, work instructions, and direction from the Supervisor or Production Manager. This role coordinates and communicates required downtime with supervisors and scheduling teams, follows LOTO/OSHA and Protolabs safety and quality procedures, and maintains accurate maintenance documentation. The Technician also partners with Engineering to identify and implement reliability improvements, design or fabricate parts to enhance performance, and execute experiments to determine root causes of build failures.

This role coordinates and communicates required downtime with supervisors and scheduling teams, follows LOTO/OSHA and Protolabs safety and quality procedures, and maintains accurate maintenance documentation. What you will do
- Perform preventative maintenance & repair on a variety of support equipment and machines, scheduling and communicating and necessary machine down time to the Supervisor and scheduling teams.
- Perform technical calibrations utilizing basic measuring equipment, as necessary.
- Install, start-up and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and utilize LOTO procedures where required along with following OSHA requirements
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, following any applicable checklists.
- Assist other technicians to ensure procedures are accurately being executed.
- Identify improvements in equipment reliability and functionality, partnering with Engineering to execute any changes as needed.
- Design and build parts to improve machine performance.
- Design and execute experiments to determine the root cause of build failures
- Complete assignments given by the Supervisor or Production Manager.
- Continually seek ways to improve work processes and individual performance.
- Ensure all tools and are supplies are returned to the appropriate storage space.
What it takes
- High school diploma or GED; vocational/technical school or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, or related field preferred.
- 1+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience (or equivalent military experience) in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Basic electrical knowledge up to 480V, experience with motors, starters, relays, and VFDs.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and basic PLC ladder logic.
- Proficient with common hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment (multimeter, clamp meter).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to prioritize work under production pressure.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
