Job Overview

We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry.

This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if you're ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us.

THE ROLE

Pure Storage’s Fusion team is redefining how enterprises consume, scale, and operate storage infrastructure across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Fusion unifies block, file, and object protocols with advanced AI-driven capabilities, providing observability, resiliency, and security at enterprise scale.

As an Engineering Manager, you will not only lead high-performing teams, but also bring deep technical expertise to solve distributed systems challenges at scale. This role demands both strong people leadership and the technical depth to guide architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure Fusion continues to deliver industry-leading innovation. You will also have the opportunity to build new teams ground-up.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the strategic roadmap and execution for a core component of our unified data services, defining clear engineering priorities and success metrics that directly align with our product vision and overall business impact.

  • Drive key architectural and technical design decisions for critical system features—such as cloud data mobility, high availability, or performance optimization—to ensure robust, scalable, and maintainable systems.

  • Mentor and grow a high-performing software team, establishing a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement through effective performance management and career development.

  • Champion an agile development model, optimizing team workflows, managing project backlogs, and ensuring a predictable, high-quality release cadence that consistently delivers tangible value to our customers.

  • Serve as the primary cross-functional bridge between Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Success, effectively translating customer feedback and market needs into actionable engineering outcomes.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Expertise in designing and shipping complex enterprise software, specifically within storage, highly available distributed systems, or large-scale cloud technologies.

  • Demonstrated technical leadership in managing and mentoring high-performing software teams, driving technical roadmaps, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and psychological safety.

  • Exceptional execution and delivery management skills, with a proven ability to implement effective agile practices and engineering best practices to consistently deliver high-quality products on schedule.

  • Strong analytical and clear communication skills, capable of articulating complex architectural trade-offs and project status effectively to both engineers and executive leadership.

  • A commitment to customer obsession and product quality, demonstrated by incorporating user feedback loops into the development cycle and championing end-to-end quality standards.

  • We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
