About the Role
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machining Specialist to join a precision manufacturing team serving marine, industrial, energy, and heavy equipment industries. This position is ideal for an experienced machinist who enjoys working in a fast-paced job shop environment and takes pride in producing high-quality components with close tolerances.
The successful candidate will perform machine setups, support programming, inspect finished parts, and contribute to continuous improvements in tooling and production processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Complete full setups for multi-axis CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines.
- Operate a variety of machining equipment, including lathes, mills, drills, grinders, shaping equipment, and hand tools.
- Produce precision components while maintaining tolerances of approximately ± .002 inches.
- Read and interpret blueprints, machining drawings, work orders, and manufacturing instructions.
- Edit existing CNC programs and create new programs to improve production efficiency and setup times.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize fixtures for repeatable, high-quality production.
- Partner with production leadership to improve tooling, fixtures, dies, and manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshoot machining and setup challenges independently and implement effective solutions.
- Inspect completed parts using standard measuring equipment and established inspection procedures.
- Maintain production schedules while working with minimal supervision.
- Ensure finished products meet quality and customer specifications.
- Support continuous improvement efforts across machining operations.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic machine upkeep.
- Keep work areas organized and maintain a safe working environment.
- Follow all shop safety procedures and operational guidelines.

Required Skills & Experience
- Experience performing complete setups on multi-axis CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, machining drawings, and work instructions.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling selection, feeds, speeds, and setup procedures.
- Ability to verify part quality using standard inspection tools.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a high-production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience editing existing CNC programs and creating new CNC programs.
- 4–5 years of experience designing, maintaining, and improving production fixturing.
- 3+ years of experience using SolidWorks CAM PRO.
- Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel materials.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve machining or setup issues efficiently.
