We are looking for a dedicated Backup Engineer to take ownership of our backup and recovery environment, ensuring data is protected, recoverable, and compliant with business and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
• Operate and manage Rubrik clusters and SLA domains; monitor jobs and resolve failures
• Onboard new VMs, databases, and clients into backup policies
• Perform regular restore tests (file, VM, database) and document DR evidence
• Manage retention, archival, and capacity utilization; initiate expansions when needed
• Troubleshoot backup/restore issues related to agents, networks, and performance
• Ensure application-consistent backups in coordination with application owners
• Produce compliance and governance reports (success rates, RTO/RPO, exceptions)
• Maintain and improve runbooks for backup failures and recovery procedures
• Validate immutability and security configurations
• Keep CMDB records accurate for protected systems
• Participate in DR exercises and full recovery simulations
• Review long-running or failed jobs and implement improvements
• Communicate maintenance windows and service updates to stakeholders
• Coordinate with vendor support and document root cause analyses (RCA)

Requirements
• Strong experience with Rubrik (SLA domains, instant recovery, archival) in on-prem and cloud environments
• Solid understanding of backup/restore strategies for VMware, Windows/Linux, and databases
• Experience with network tuning, agent deployment, and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of DR concepts (RTO/RPO) and testing methodologies
• Familiarity with ITSM processes, reporting, and capacity/licensing management
