What you'll be doing

As our new HSEQ Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of a proactive and positive HSEQ culture in our UK & Ireland operations, with a strong focus on health, safety and wellbeing. You’ll be part of our Business Operations department, reporting directly to the Head of Business Operations, with a dotted line to the Group HSEQ Director, being a member of the global HSEQ community.

This role goes beyond compliance—you’ll shape how HSEQ is perceived and practiced both internally and externally. You will be a visible, trusted leader with the presence to influence across all levels of the business. You’ll work independently to drive key processes while fostering collaboration with our global network and UK & Ireland business areas. This role can be based anywhere in the UK, but it will involve some travel. You’ll play a central role in a growing, global HSEQ community, with the opportunity to impact core business decisions and build strong cross-functional partnerships.

 

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Driving a proactive and positive HSEQ culture that aligns with national laws, ISO standards and best practice
  • Leading and coordinating national HSEQ strategy in collaboration with global business area and Group teams
  • Overseeing legal compliance, incident reporting/investigations and liaising with external agencies as needed
  • Chairing the national HSE/Work Environment organisation and promoting wellbeing initiatives
  • Coordinating onboarding, HSEQ training, internal audits, performance reporting, and inspections
  • Developing business cases and presentations to support continuous improvement and strategic alignment
  • Implementing the UK & Ireland integrated management system and its ISO certification, and contributing to crisis management planning

 

To do so, you will need to:

  • Empower people to deliver excellence across the various UK & Ireland various line of businesses (Business Areas).
  • Build strong working relationships with the UK & Ireland Executive Leadership Team, Business Area HSE leads and in HQ.
  • Liaise with and report to Group on all HSEQ matters, collaborating as part of the global HSEQ community
  • Produce KPIs and reports making recommendations for improvement, reporting to both the UK & Ireland Executive Leadership Team and HSEQ Leadership Team at Group level on a regular basis
  • Promote and improve the HSEQ performance across the UK & Ireland, providing guidance and expertise to the business and project teams regarding HSEQ issues
  • Maintain consistently high and legally compliant standards of Quality, Environment, Health, Safety and Wellbeing within the organisation.
  • Manage direct reports in the UK & Ireland HSEQ team, and lead the wider UK & Ireland HSEQ community
  • Travel to offices in the UK and Republic of Ireland

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience as a Health and Safety leader essential
  • Internal and external audit experience essential (IRCA lead auditor certificate preferred)
  • Experience of implementing management systems to ISO9001, 14001 and 45001
  • Available to travel across the UK (role involves frequent travel)

 

Education and Professional Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree standard (or equivalent)
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Member of a relevant professional body, eg. IOSH

 

Personal Qualities:

  • Ability to build good relationships with colleagues at all levels of the business
  • Ability to communicate and engage effectively at Executive Director level
  • Passion for health, safety and wellbeing, and ability to engage colleagues on the subject matter
  • Proven ability to deliver results within tight deadlines
  • Collaborative approach to working as part of a wider team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
