RCX Sports Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation committed to providing children in local communities with access to sports. We believe in the power of sport to build character, foster teamwork, and instill discipline, all while providing a sense of community. Our mission is to make sports accessible to all children by providing programming to positively impact youth sports, subsidizing fees for kids to play and providing financial assistance to league operators to ensure they can offer these opportunities.
The Izell Reese Community Center, named in honor of former NFL player and Dothan native, Izell Reese, is being developed in a former school building to create a vibrant hub for the entire community. With the strong support of the City of Dothan, the center is poised to become a cornerstone for neighborhood revitalization and gathering place for the broader city.
The RCX Sports Foundation and Izell Reese Community Center is seeking a highly motivated, outgoing, and visionary leader to serve as its’ Director. This is a unique, entrepreneurial opportunity to build this vibrant community hub from the ground up. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and people-person who thrives in building relationships, promoting community resources, securing funding, and creating meaningful programming—especially in youth development, sports, and STEM.
The Director of the Izell Reese Community Center will work closely with the Executive Director of the RCX Sports Foundation to bring the center’s mission to life and make it a thriving destination for families, youth, and partners in the Dothan/wiregrass area.
What you’ll do:
- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the strategic growth and development of the Izell Reese Community Center, establishing it as a trusted and impactful community hub.
- Design and implement the long-term vision, operational model, and sustainability plan for the center.
- Anticipate and respond to community needs by identifying gaps, engaging local voices, and implementing solutions that improve quality of life and opportunity.
- Lead with creativity and agility, consistently generating bold ideas, launching new initiatives, and cultivating collaborations that increase the center’s visibility, reach, and community value.
- Operations & Administration
- Oversee daily operations of the community center, including facility management, budgeting, staffing, and compliance.
- Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and standards to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality services.
- Manage the center’s calendar, events, and rentals to maximize community access and financial sustainability.
- Community Engagement & Outreach
- Serve as the driving force and public face of the Izell Reese Community Center, representing its mission with energy, credibility, and consistency across the community.
- Cultivate deep community ties by actively engaging with residents, local leaders, schools, media, and civic groups to co-create programs and partnerships that reflect the community’s needs.
- Represent the center with professionalism and passion at public forums, city and school board meetings, local festivals, media interviews, and networking events—positioning the center as a trusted, go-to resource for residents and organizations alike.
- Program Development
- Design and execute high-impact programs in youth sports, STEM, health, and workforce readiness.
- Recruit, train, and manage facilitators, mentors, and volunteers who reflect the community’s diversity.
- Develop and implement systems to measure program effectiveness, participant outcomes, and community impact, using data to continuously refine and expand offerings for long-term success.
- Leverage trends, best practices, and community feedback to drive innovation and ensure the center remains a leader in accessible, relevant, and future-focused programming.
- Fundraising & Revenue Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy including grants, sponsorships, donor cultivation, and capital campaigns.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with local, regional, and national corporate partners, securing financial and in-kind contributions that support the center’s programs, operations, and growth.
- Create high-impact opportunities for corporate involvement that showcase shared values, increase brand visibility, and demonstrate measurable community impact.
- Identify and activate revenue-generating opportunities—such as space rentals, fee-based classes, corporate events, and social enterprise partnerships—that contribute to the center’s financial health while serving the community.
- Tenant & Partner Engagement
- Recruit and support mission-aligned tenants and partners who enhance the center’s education, health, and youth development focus.
- Negotiate and manage space-use agreements, ensuring alignment with financial goals, operational needs, and community outcomes.
- Foster collaboration among tenants to create an ecosystem of innovation and community value, positioning the center as a desirable destination for nonprofit, small business, and civic partners.
- Collaboration with RCX Sports Foundation
- Work closely with the RCX Sports Foundation leadership team to ensure strategic alignment, measurable impact, and seamless integration of center initiatives into the foundation’s national vision.
- Provide regular reporting and insights on center operations, impact, and growth.
- Contribute to long-term planning, sustainability, and innovation.
- Champion a culture of accountability, innovation, and shared success—both within the center and in collaboration with RCX and external stakeholders.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, education, public affairs, or related field from an accredited university (required).
- At least 7-10 years of prior professional experience nonprofit leadership, community engagement, or program management (required).
- Proven success in foundation fundraising, partnership development, or launching new initiatives.
- Deeply passionate and committed to advancing youth development, promoting equity in sports and education, and empowering communities through inclusive programming.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders across the community, business, and nonprofit sectors.
- Highly self-motivated and entrepreneurial, demonstrating a strong drive to innovate, launch, and grow new initiatives that create meaningful community impact.
- Creative thinker and strategic problem-solver, able to navigate complex challenges with innovative solutions and consistently deliver results through diligent execution.
- Ability to work independently with motivation and follow-through, while also being a team player who supports collaboration and shared goals.
More about the role:
- Travel: Less than 10%
- Work Schedule: Full-Time Monday-Friday with some nights and weekends required.
- Compensation Structure: This position is a Full-Time Salaried position, paid semi-monthly and is eligible to receive a discretionary annual bonus based on employee and Foundation performance.
