Our Farm

We have been operating our family farm since 1968. Originally a 560-acre arable farm, we have grown into a family-run group of companies in Farming, Machinery, Contracting, Hospitality, and Construction. Our 450-strong suckler herd has in recent years been transitioning to a Stabiliser maternal herd, although some continental and Angus cross cows remain. Our herd is grazed across 3,000 acres of conservation grazing, alongside a further 2,500 acres of arable made up of a mixture of tenanted and owned.

The farm is supported by a team of 5, and this position is a new role for the farm.

Your role

Roles and responsibilities will include:

-        Day-to-day management of the herd, ensuring high standards of welfare

-        Fertility management including AI, bull management and genetic selection.

-        Support the business owners with business strategies, profitability, maximising operational efficiency, and improving overall herd health status.

-        Record keeping and utilising genomics to maximise herd efficiency.

-        Treating and identifying illnesses and working with vets when needed

-        Implementing feeding programmes alongside the nutritionist.

-        Managing a small team, ensuring jobs are completed, and the farm is tidy and safe to operate

Requirements

-        Hold a full UK driving license

-        Have a UK Right to Work

-        You will be a hard working, honest, and reliable person

-        Capable of working on your own initiative

-        You will also be organised and self-motivated, with strong interpersonal communication skills, and be able to manage and work effectively with the farm team.
