Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Temporary Accounting Clerk I, who will perform a wide variety of routine duties in the Accounting Department, with focus areas including accounts payable and general ledger accounting under specific supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Department Operations:
o Ensure timely and accurate recordings of expenses, income, assets, and liabilities as assigned.
o Enter and code Accounts Payable invoices.
o Obtain proper and appropriate approval for Accounts Payable invoices.
o Assist in the Month End close procedures as assigned.
o Perform various aspects of the Fixed Asset/Prepaid system process as assigned.
o Perform various aspects of the Accounts Payable process as assigned.
o Processes various Journal Entries as assigned.
o Reconcile various assigned general ledger accounts.
o Recognize discrepancies in general ledger accounts.
o Provide exceptional service to all Members, volunteers, internal team members, and service providers.
o Perform stop payments.
o Disburse mail.
o Identify problems and create solutions when feasible.
o Perform filing and data entry tasks.

Minimum Qualification: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of general accounting practices and principles.
- Ability to operate a PC with basic knowledge in MS Excel and MS Word.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability and desire to work in and contribute to a team environment.
The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and a minimum of six months’ experience in an Accounting Department or similar role.
Compensation: Base starting range: $22.00 to $28.00 hourly commensurate with experience.
Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
• Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
• Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
