About the Opportunity

The Service Technician 1 regularly performs service activation and installation of the Ting fiber network, including construction elements such as conduit, fiber, split enclosures, cabinets, and utility locating.

Service Technicians are at the forefront of Ting’s connection with the community and carry out their responsibilities with a strong focus on safety and customer experience. This is an on-site role in Colorado Springs, CO. 

Job Duties

  • Perform installation of fiber network, including connecting, disconnecting, testing, repairing, and maintaining services with deep product knowledge (including fiber and symmetrical products)

  • Engage directly with residential and commercial customers at install locations, including effectively de-escalating concerns

  • Complete general installations, including wall fishing and custom install solutions to meet customer needs

  • Install drops from handhole to house independently

  • Perform mainline and drop fiber blowing processes

  • Understand basic data center concepts and perform related work with supervision as needed

  • Troubleshoot advanced issues, including installs that fail to go online, repeat break/fix scenarios, and light level analysis

  • Independently complete splice dome and express dome installations

  • Perform advanced network repairs across NID, home, handhole, and data center environments

  • Interpret locates and maps to ensure optimal drop placement

  • Advise customers on optimal drop placement for effective connectivity

  • Support MXU cost estimates, site surveys, and design with guidance from senior team members

  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to junior technicians

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong customer interaction and communication skills

  • Experience with drops and FTTH (Fiber to the Home) installations

  • Fiber splicing, including high-count mass and fusion splicing

  • Cable routing and installation of enclosures and passive cabinets

  • Fiber blowing and patching

  • Ability to read plant maps and network designs

  • General construction experience (especially in organic markets)

  • Proficiency with tools and platforms (e.g., ServiceMax, Bob, Deputy)

  • Ability to travel between markets to provide support (traveling technician)

  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation

  • Ability to work in confined spaces

  • Ability to perform aerial work using ladders or bucket trucks (35+ feet)

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds using safe lifting techniques

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions (with provided PPE)

  • Strong commitment to safety practices (ladder safety, safe driving, weather protocols, etc.)

Qualifications Required

  • 2–4 years of experience in the telecommunications industry

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract

  • Completion of FOI (Fiber Optic Installer) or FOA (Fiber Optic Association) certification

The hourly pay for this position is based on an annualized range of $55,000 - $60,000 USD for US residents. Other countries will differ. Range may vary on a number of factors including, but not limited to: location, experience and qualifications.
