The Science Traineeship
Our Science Traineeship is meant for ambitious and high-potential master’s students who want to do things differently. In collaboration with the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), you are offered the opportunity to write your master thesis in the medical field. The goal is to employ the power of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to better understand complex diseases, like various forms of cancer, and to advance medical science. Simultaneously, you get to work on transformative AI projects at Rewire.
After graduation, you may have the opportunity to turn your research into a scientific publication, transforming your thesis work into tangible societal impact.
The Science Traineeship is part of the collaboration between the UMCG and Rewire. Since the start, over than six years ago, we have already worked on more than 10 different research streams with many enthusiastic colleagues involved from both Rewire and the UMCG. Will you be the next to join this unique project?
What does the Science Traineeship look like?
The Science Traineeship is a full-time program for 12 months, dependent on the requirements for your Master thesis.
During this period, you work on your thesis research for 3 days a week. On the other 2 days, you get the opportunity to work on one of Rewire’s AI Business projects in a regular project team.
In the first half of the traineeship (depending on your study’s timelines), your research focuses on completing your thesis and achieving successful graduation. After graduation, you have the opportunity to further develop your work together with your UMCG supervisor, with the aim of bringing it to the next level. This potentially involves preparing it for scientific publication. This offers the possibility to translate your thesis into tangible societal impact, although publication cannot be guaranteed within the traineeship period.
The research will focus on applying state-of-the-art AI techniques in a medical setting. With this research you will make a vital contribution to the clinical field. You will work together with a group of leading academics in their field.
As Science Trainee, you are part of the Applied Quantitative AI team within Rewire. Being part of this team, you join all team meetings, outings and experience what working as a Data Scientist at Rewire entails.
At Rewire, you’ll be part of a dynamic working environment, both literally and figuratively. For your research, you can work from the Rewire office alongside many like-minded and ambitious colleagues. During your business project, you may travel to the client’s office or collaborate with your team from one of our offices. We offer flexibility in where you work, always in alignment with your project team, while encouraging time in the office or in Groningen at the UMCG to foster connection, collaboration, and strong guidance. On Fridays, most Rewire colleagues come together at the Amsterdam office to catch up, hold team meetings, and kick off the weekend with Friday afternoon drinks.
