Senior Automation and Control Specialist

Rosebel Gold Mines is seeking a Senior Automation and Control Specialist to join our Mill Electrical department. As the Senior Automation and Control Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and availability of all automation and instrumentation systems across our operation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Oversee the design, development, implementation, and optimization of all process control and automation systems across the mine site.

• Develop and maintain long-term strategies for automation system upgrades, replacements, and new technology integration to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and productivity.

• Lead the selection, evaluation, and integration of new hardware, software, and communication protocols (e.g., PLCs, DCS, SCADA, field instrumentation).

• Act as the primary subject matter expert for all process control and automation issues, providing advanced technical support and troubleshooting.

• Diagnose and resolve complex system faults, performance deviations, and communication errors.

• Develop and implement solutions to recurring automation problems, focusing on root cause analysis.

• Ensure the reliability, availability, and cybersecurity of all control systems, including network infrastructure and data integrity.

• Implement and manage disaster recovery plans and backup procedures for critical control systems.

• Develop and enforce standards for programming, configuration, documentation, and system maintenance.

• Lead and manage automation and control projects from conception through commissioning, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
