Job Overview

The Junior Hydrogeologist supports daily hydrogeology activities related to pit dewatering, open pit and waste dump drainage, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant mining operations in accordance with RGM safety standards. The role focuses on field monitoring, data quality control, analysis, and supporting mine planning activities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Engineering & Planning

  • Develop short-term and annual dewatering plans aligned with mine sequencing.

  • Perform pump sizing, hydraulic calculations, and system optimization.

  • Analyze system performance, downtime, and efficiency trends.

  • Support CAPEX/OPEX budgeting and procurement planning.

  • Contribute to groundwater monitoring and surface water management projects.

  • Prepare technical reports and dashboards.

  • Assist in drainage infrastructure design and continuous improvement initiatives.

Operational & Field Support

  • Monitor and operate dewatering systems (pumps, pipelines, sumps, discharge systems).

  • Conduct field inspections and ensure safe work practices.

  • Track water levels, inflows, rainfall impacts, and seepage.

  • Maintain accurate operational records.

  • Support emergency response during heavy rainfall events.

  • Assist with construction oversight, surveys, QA/QC, and well monitoring.

  • Troubleshoot water-related operational issues and follow up on pump maintenance.
