Are you ready to join us as a Principal Software Engineer and be a driving force in strengthening our studio's technical craft? In this role, you'll be building our engineering excellence and supporting the studio Technical Director in shaping the technical roadmap for Rovio's biggest game with over a million daily users - Angry Birds 2!
Your mission is to elevate the overall development practices in the studio and bring us to the industry forefront when it comes to using AI in our software development processes.

This role brings significant value through close collaboration and direct impact on our studio's culture and future roadmap. You will have impact and fun at work by:
- Support in defining the tech strategy and architecture for the game.
- Working hands-on on feature development and legacy refactoring.
- Design robust, scalable, and high-performance frameworks, tools, and architectures to support the future of AB2 and other potential projects in the Stockholm studio
- Leading large, technically complex projects as the part of AB2 development
- Introducing novel elements to the development process
- Evaluate technologies and establish technical conventions that impact the future technical roadmap of the project
- Represent the Technology craft for Rovio Stockholm by championing our technical strategy and managing communication with internal stakeholders
Experience and skills we are looking for:
- Live Experience: Experience working with live mobiles games or large scale live services
- Architectural Leadership: Past experience of defining architecture modular, reusable, and scalable systems on a big game or a big project/app.
- Technical Strategy: The ability to define and drive a technical roadmap that directly supports business goals and improves long-term game performance.
- Software Engineering Expertise: Proven deep knowledge of software engineering principles (such as SOLID), practices, game design patterns and architecture.
- AI & Emerging Tech: Expertise in using and implementing AI solutions and a keen eye for identifying new trends and evaluating new technologies.
- Hands on Coding: Proficiency in Unity (lifecycle, scene management, asset pipeline, structuring large-scale projects for maintainability) and C# with the readiness to dive into an existing large codebase for development, refactoring, and problem-solving.
- Leadership & Influence: Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical direction, mentor peers, and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactivity & Innovation: A continuous drive to challenge the status quo, bring new ideas and solutions, and lead initiatives to improve processes and technology.
- Stakeholder Management and Collaboration: Brings ability to create strong partnership, challenge and support the game production to ensure timely project delivery at highest quality.
