Role Overview

The Account Manager – Government is responsible for driving new revenue growth and managing strategic government accounts across India. This role requires a seasoned sales professional with a strong hunting mindset, deep experience navigating government procurement environments, and the ability to manage complex, long-cycle deals.

The role will own the full sales lifecycle, from new opportunity identification through deal closure and ongoing account management, while building trusted relationships with senior government stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the full sales cycle across assigned government accounts, from prospecting to close
  • Proactively hunt for new government opportunities while expanding existing accounts
  • Build and execute account and territory plans aligned to revenue and growth targets
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior government decision-makers and influencers
  • Manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles, including RFPs and procurement processes
  • Position a differentiated portfolio of solutions to meet government customer needs
  • Accurately forecast pipeline and revenue using CRM tools
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Engineering, Channel, Marketing, and Customer Success
  • Represent the company professionally in customer meetings, briefings, and industry forums

Requirements (Experience & Background)

  • 10–15 years of experience in B2B sales, with a significant focus on government accounts
  • Proven track record of new business development (“hunter” profile) in the public sector
  • Strong experience managing complex, long-cycle government sales engagements
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and executive-level decision-makers
  • Background in enterprise technology, cybersecurity, identity, or SaaS sales preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed revenue targets in a structured sales environment

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Relevant industry or sales certifications (preferred, not required)
