The General Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. This includes maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and supporting the finance team in budgeting and forecasting activities. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Record Keeping
Maintain and update general ledger accounts.
Record journal entries and ensure accuracy of financial data.
Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable
Process vendor invoices and payments.
Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding receivables.
Ensure timely and accurate billing.
3. Month-End and Year-End Closing
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support the closing process by reconciling accounts and preparing necessary reports.
4. Compliance and Audit Support
Ensure compliance with local accounting standards and tax regulations.
Prepare documentation and support internal and external audits.
5. Budgeting and Forecasting
Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor actual performance against budget and report variances.
6. Reporting
Generate financial reports for management review.
Provide insights and analysis to support decision-making.
7. System and Process Improvement
Suggest improvements to accounting processes and systems.
Support implementation of new financial tools or ERP systems.
