Accounting Manager – Remote
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, experience in private equity-backed organizations, and a background in VBC (Value-Based Care), healthcare, or public accounting.
This role requires someone who can not only produce accurate financials, but also analyze results, explain variances, and provide meaningful insights to leadership.
What you'll do
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Analysis and Reporting: Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements—balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements—ensuring precision and attention to detail. Provide senior management with detailed financial reports, offering valuable insights and strategic recommendations.
- General Ledger Management: Supervise general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and period-end closing processes. Ensure accurate recording of transactions, maintain proper documentation, and oversee compliance with accounting standards.
- Internal Controls: Develop and implement robust internal control procedures to protect company assets, reduce risks, and ensure regulatory compliance. Identify control gaps and propose solutions for process improvements, fostering a culture of accountability.
- Audit Coordination: Manage interactions with external auditors during the annual audit process. Provide necessary documentation, address audit inquiries, and oversee the implementation of recommendations resulting from audit findings.
- Financial Analysis: Direct detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis and trend forecasting, to assess financial performance, identify risks, and uncover opportunities. Prepare comprehensive reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee the development and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts. Collaborate with department heads to gather pertinent information, offer insights into financial projections, and guide cost management strategies. Once the budget is complete, provide budget vs actual reporting.
- Tax Compliance: Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting. Manage tax-related documentation and compliance efforts.
- Treasury & Vendor Management: Supervise cash flow monitoring (weekly cash flow forecast) and oversee the invoice payment and approval process. Implement treasury management controls and ensure accurate bank reconciliations.
- Lender management: work with the CFO and head of FP&A to ensure covenant compliance. Prepare covenant certificates
- Process Improvement: Evaluate and enhance accounting processes and systems, identifying opportunities for improved efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness. Implement best practices and recommend changes to streamline financial operations.
- Staff Management: Manage and review the work of staff accountants, providing guidance, support, and feedback. Ensure their work aligns with organizational goals and standards, and foster their professional development through regular training and performance evaluations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
