This role is part of Eyeline’s Technology organization, which is responsible for delivering innovative production technology and supporting creative excellence across our global studio. We are seeking a highly motivated and curious software engineer with experience in developing rapidly evolving creative production pipelines. In this role you will architect and maintain reliable, scalable systems that enable experimentation, secure data movement, and efficient asset management - powering the next generation of creative workflows to make what’s next in Visual Effects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Creative Technology Supervisor and Visual Pioneering team to design solutions that meet both immediate and long-term VFX workflow needs.
  • Integrate internal research and leading-edge machine learning (ML) technologies into our production pipeline, working hand-in-hand with production and research teams.
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate on new projects, addressing short-term challenges and informing long-term technology investments.
  • Develop and integrate ML-based tools and workflows, especially where solutions are ambiguous or unprecedented.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable pipelines for seamless image and video transfer across local, virtual, and cloud environments.
  • Define integration requirements for creative tools, asset management, and production tracking systems (e.g. Flow).
  • Build modular, user-friendly systems that support rapid experimentation and easy integration of new tools.
  • Document pipeline processes and workflows to ensure clear understanding and adoption by artists and stakeholders.
  • Break down complex technical challenges into actionable tasks for effective team collaboration.
  • Prioritize teamwork, security, and operational efficiency throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Mentor and inspire team members through technical leadership and a collaborative approach.
  • Maintain open and frequent communication with research scientists, technical artists, and production teams to bridge advanced research and practical production use.
  • Champion best practices and continuous improvement in ML and software development, focusing on robust coding standards, package management, and build efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum ten (10) years of software development experience developing and supporting creative production pipelines in VFX, Animation, or Games.
  • Deep knowledge of computer graphics, machine learning, and pipeline architecture.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard creative software, VFX workflows, and asset management systems.
  • Proven experience deploying ML models, including training, fine-tuning, and optimizing for production environments.
  • Strong understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture and distributed systems (e.g., REST, RPC, message queues).
  • Quick to learn new and unfamiliar technologies.
  • Proficient with task orchestration systems and automating complex workflows using modern orchestration frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate, document, and visualize complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Highly adaptable and resourceful, with strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, boutique creative environment.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and passionate about technical and creative innovation.
  • Able to switch quickly between forward-looking development and immediate production support needs.
  • Resourceful and self-sufficient in gathering information, with good judgment on when to seek assistance.
