Job Overview

We are looking for a talented Principal Performance Engineer to join our growing global team at Sectigo.

The Principal Performance Engineer drives performance, scalability, and reliability across our platform. This individual works among engineering teams to identify bottlenecks, shape architecture, and ensure our systems scale efficiently as usage and complexity grow. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving deep system problems and influencing engineering direction at scale.

Please Note: The Reporting Manager and the Work Arrangement requirements may be modified and redesigned based on business needs to ensure operational flexibility and organizational effectiveness.

This is a full-time position, working in a hybrid model, and reporting to our Ottawa office at least 3-4 days a week.
This is an individual contributor role, reporting to our Vice President, Development. 

Here are the core functions, responsibilities, and expectations for this role: 

  • Lead platform wide performance and scalability initiatives.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex performance issues across services, databases, and infrastructure.
  • Design and validate scalable architectures (caching, sharding, async processing, load balancing).
  • Define and promote performance standards, SLOs, and scalability best practices.
  • Build and execute load, stress, and capacity testing strategies.
  • Partner with product, platform, and SRE teams to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions across teams.
  • Communicate performance risks and tradeoffs to engineering leadership.
  • Additional tasks associated with this position may be assigned in response to company initiatives and business needs.
