Job Overview

The Senior Tax & Compliance Officer, is responsible to manage all tax obligations of the company, including preparation and timely submission of IRPC, IRPS, IVA and withholding tax returns to the Autoridade Tributária de Mocambique (AT) and other taxes.

Ensure full compliance with Mozambican tax legislation and all applicable regulatory frameworks, including INSS and labour law obligations and provide strategic tax and compliance advisory to the Chief Accountant and senior management on business decisions, contracts and transactions.

Responsabilities

  • Prepare, review and submit all corporate tax returns (IRPC, IRPS, IVA, withholding taxes) accurately and on time and properly supported with fiscal documents;
  • Manage tax planning strategies to optimise the company's tax position while ensuring full legal compliance;
  • Liaise with the Autoridade Tributaria de Mocambique (AT) and represent the company during tax audits and inspections;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Mozambican tax legislation and assess the impact of regulatory changes on the business;
  • Oversee transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with applicable rules;
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations, including INSS (social security), labour law, and sector-specific regulations;
  • Monitor and manage filings with the Conservatoria do Registo Comercial and other relevant government bodies;
  • Develop, implement and maintain internal compliance policies, procedures and controls;
  • Conduct periodic internal compliance reviews and risk assessments;
  • Prepare management reports on tax liabilities, compliance status and potential risks for the Chief Accountant;
  • Support the finance team during, month-end reporting, year-end audit processes and liaise with external auditors;
  • Advise on the tax implications of new business activities, investments and cross-border transactions;
  • Ensure proper filing of all tax and compliance documentation and upload to Group sharepoint on time;
  • Carry out any other duties as instructed by management that may be deemed appropriate and within capabilities;
  • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system;
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.
