This role plays a pivotal part in delivering world-class technical training for our advanced X-ray detection systems, supporting both internal service technicians and external customers across the UK and beyond.
Based primarily at our Hemel Hempstead site, you’ll deliver engaging, high-quality technical training sessions—both in person and virtually—to ensure learners gain the practical skills and knowledge needed to maintain and operate Smiths Detection equipment safely and effectively. You’ll also travel regularly to major customer sites (including Heathrow and Gatwick airports) and occasionally internationally to support our global training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, technically focused training on Smiths Detection X-ray assets to internal engineers, service technicians, and external customers.
- Support the implementation of the Global Training Strategy through effective and innovative training delivery methods.
- Develop and maintain high-quality training materials, including presentations, handouts, and practical exercises aligned with organisational standards.
- Facilitate train-the-trainer (T3) sessions to support consistent delivery quality worldwide.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback and performance metrics, working with the Training Quality Manager to drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including Global Training Delivery, Product Engineering, and Customer Support teams, to ensure content remains accurate and relevant.
- Contribute to the planning and scheduling of global training programmes, ensuring alignment with Smiths Detection’s training goals and standards.
About You
You’re an experienced technical trainer who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. You’re confident leading both classroom and workshop sessions, translating complex technical information into clear, engaging learning experiences.
