About the Role:
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join us as an Accessibility Specialist. In this role, you will conduct accessibility testing, produce and present audit reports across key projects, ensuring that our digital services are inclusive and compliant with accessibility standards. You will work closely with stakeholders, developers, and testers, driving the integration of accessibility into Agile workflows and delivering high-quality, user-friendly solutions for our public and private sector clients.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate as part of Agile teams, ensuring accessibility considerations are integrated into development and testing.
- Ensure diversity and inclusion are prioritised from the outset, creating services that are usable and accessible for everyone.
- Engage, plan and carry out accessibility audits, producing comprehensive reports for digital services to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA standards, including manual, automated, and assistive technology testing.
- Work with Leads to contribute to accessibility testing strategies, plans, and automation frameworks.
- Support best practices to standardise accessibility testing across organisations
- Act as the primary point of contact for accessibility-related queries on remediation and accessibility testing support
- Work closely with and learn from senior members of our team to develop your skills and knowledge.
- Manage and train team more junior members on accessibility
- Conduct training to increase awareness of accessibility, assistive technologies and testing including delivering in-person and online workshops, fostering a learning community
- Stay up to date with the latest accessibility standards, tools, and technologies to continuously improve testing processes, including AI accessibility tooling.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Degree or 3 years+ experience as an Accessibility Specialist and a genuine interest in accessibility and technology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with team members and clients.
- Proven experience in accessibility testing, with a strong understanding of WCAG standards and best practices.
- Good knowledge of Equality Act 2010 and government legal requirements (PSBAR)
- Strong experience conducting accessibility testing, including manual testing and assistive technology tools such as screen readers (e.g., NVDA, JAWS), speech recognition tools (Dragon, Voice Control) Zoom tools (ZoomText, Apple Zoom) and other tools.
- An ability to apply analytical skills to accessibility testing results and provide actionable remediation solutions
- Experience with writing and presenting accessibility audit findings to teams
- Proficiency in semi-automated accessibility tools such as Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, or similar.
- Strong problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Experience with training and upskilling teams on the basics of accessibility, testing and assistive technologies
- A passion for creating accessible and inclusive digital experiences for all use
- Experience writing and publishing Accessibility Statements.
