About the role

The Record to Report (R2R) Accountant (Pennon) is responsible for capturing accurate and timely financial reporting data and reviewing the financial position of the company to ensure complete and robust documentation exists to support period end balances. The role also helps to ensure compliance with accounting standards, and the integrity of financial statements. This role requires technical accounting skills, a thorough understanding of financial processes and effective communication with stakeholders.

About the role

The Record to Report (R2R) Accountant (Pennon) is responsible for capturing accurate and timely financial reporting data and reviewing the financial position of the company to ensure complete and robust documentation exists to support period end balances. The role also helps to ensure compliance with accounting standards, and the integrity of financial statements. This role requires technical accounting skills, a thorough understanding of financial processes and effective communication with stakeholders.


What you'll be doing:

  • Complete the monthly, half-yearly and annual close processes for the Pennon Group companies, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Responsibility for the quality and integrity of monthly accounting entries to the ledger, including sourcing and documenting supporting information from stakeholders.
  • Controlling the Fixed Asset Register, including transactional entries and regular reconciliation.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies as required
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and internal policies and be able to demonstrate this with evidence (Eg Internal or External audit)
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information for reporting and analysis.
  • Help to develop and implement best practice processes to ensure the integrity of the general ledger
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the R2R function.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance.

What we are looking for:

  • Extensive experience in accounting, preferably with experience of transactional accounting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities including process improvement.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to extract and understand detailed complex financial information and document this.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
