The Master Electrician installs, repairs, and maintains building system electrical equipment. Carries out and may oversee preventive maintenance procedures on major electrical systems as directed. This position reviews plans and specifications for Design and Construction and other contracting services. The Master Electrician advises E/M Supervisor of electrical/mechanical maintenance and equipment replacement requirements.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.
* Assists in the coordination of providing temporary power and emergency power during CoGen outages.
* Assists in the diagnoses of operational problems with the Centers electrical system. Responsible for switching of the primary and emergency electrical systems.
* Assists in the installation of electrical wiring and switch gear, fuses, lighting fixtures, heating devices, motors, and other hospital electrical apparatuses, conforming to the national and local codes.
* Assists in the preparation of equipment and system specifications, charts, layouts, cost feasibility studies, and reports.
* Carries out preventive maintenance procedures such as servicing of exhaust fans, motors, motor control centers, and other duties as assigned.
* Performs and assists in the more difficult installation and maintenance tasks.
* Prepares and follows through established preventive maintenance procedures; works with shop personnel in preventive maintenance methods, techniques, and procedures.
* Responsible for ongoing evaluation of plant electrical systems for improved service and reliability.
* Reviews plans and designs to guarantee conformance to building, fire codes, federal, state, and local regulations.
