The Field Service Engineer – Middle East acts as the local technical extension of STAS in the GCC region. The role is responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability and performance of STAS equipment at customer sites by delivering high quality field service, troubleshooting, commissioning and technical support. In close collaboration with the Service Manager, the Regional Sales Manager and the Middle East Service Centre, the Field Service Engineer protects STAS technical reputation, supports customer satisfaction and contributes to business growth through identification of service, parts and retrofit opportunities.


As a Field Service Engineer – Middle East, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, commissioning and maintaining STAS equipment at aluminium smelters and casthouses across the GCC. You will act as the local technical face of STAS, working closely with the Service Manager in Canada and the Middle East Service Centre to plan interventions, provide technical expertise, train customer teams and identify opportunities for improvements, upgrades and spare parts.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Service and Commissioning

  • Troubleshoot, commission, inspect, and maintain STAS equipment at GCC smelters and casthouses.

  • Perform diagnostics, calibrations, and PLC/HMI programming.

  • Support start-up, optimization, and stabilization after new installations or upgrades.

  • Conduct customer training on equipment operation and maintenance.

  • Participate in technical reviews and knowledge sharing with the global service network.

Planning, Coordination, and Documentation

  • Coordinate and execute planned service interventions with clear scope and preparation.

  • Adapt to on-site constraints while keeping stakeholders informed.

  • Prepare detailed service reports with equipment condition, actions, and recommendations.

  • Maintain accurate records and CRM data.

Customer Interface, Commercial Support, and STAS Representation

  • Support Regional Sales Manager in technical discussions, visits, and follow-ups.

  • Identify technical improvements, retrofit opportunities, and service/spare parts needs.

  • Assist with spare parts logistics to minimize downtime.

  • Maintain professional image, technical credibility, and clear communication.

Continuous Improvement and Service Offer Development

  • Participate in technical reviews and post-service debriefs.

  • Contribute to improving service procedures, checklists, and documentation.

  • Support testing and validation of new or upgraded STAS technologies.
